Updated River Report for September 14th, 2022

Miracle Mile and Grey Reef Report - September 14th

The deck shuffle we where waiting for has happened.  Cooler temps and the powers that be have lowered the Reef for the end of irrigation season. They stair stepped it down. Each day it fished well with the fish settling right on in not missing a beat. The cooler overcast days saw some pods up working which made for some good dry fly action.  Currently the water level on the Reef looks to be holding in the low 500cfs. It is fishing well, really buggy. Tricos in the morning mixing in BWO’s and caddis. Still have cooler weather than the heat wave we where in, thank goodness. We were really over that. A little more cloud cover recently. Happy fish. Look for that trend to continue. Our guides have been fishing quite a few beats and should continue to see more sections of the river start to turn on here directly. Keep looking for working fish, some fun is to be had right now. Getting the streamer boxes ready and adding those in the mix as well.

The Mile has been fishing similar. Buggy and fish responding positively to cooler temps and cloud cover. No major change in flows, mid 500’s. The fishing at the Mile should continue to keep trending in a positive manner.  As Kokanee move in the system to spawn there will be plenty of protein on the menu and trout following them.

Bottom line, good fall fishing has begun.
