Grey Reef Fishing Report from August 1st, 2022
As we move into August, we’ve start mixing it up and floating below. Lusby and closer to Casper. Just started poking around and getting some looks on hoppers. We have our fingers crossed that the hopper fishing will get good. When we have Augusts with good hoppers and fish keying in on them it can be a blast. The moss is starting to become more substantial, but is perfectly fishable. Early mornings and later in the evening seem to be your best bet, when the temps are cooler. Tricos have been going early morning, as they should be. If technical dry fly is your game there are places and pockets to play that game if you like. But also remember the timing and even if you are nymphing having small black RS2 and “trico-y” nymphs/ spents on your set up is a good way to start the mornings. Later in the morning and early afternoon there are big hatches of PMD’s and Yellow Sallies. Cloudy days and especially cloudy and calmer days there are noses up and fish rising to be found if you look and know where to keep your eyes peeled.
