Fishing has been good. Bundle up, bring the right gear and enjoy. It is a laid back pace- later starts to let things warm up. Take a break if you need to and wrap your hands around a hot cup of coffee or thermos of soup. Enjoy a late fall day watching for critters, birds and big wonderfall Wyoming landscape . No rush, there are not crowds or competition. For those that are out there the rewards are lots of opportunites and shots at some really nice fish and potential to shake hands with a big brown trout. Plenty of nice rainbows around. Nymph rigs and some streamers are the game. Browns are doing their fall spawn routine. Be kind to them. There is a difference between targeting migration and having more browns available and aggressivness with spawn(fish rut) mentality to attack streamers, additon of eggs on the menu helping make for some good fishing as opposed to straight targeting and ripping fish on beds. Be nice- plenty of good fishing right now.
We cornered Justin after a trip the other day and here was his take “The Reef is fishing well. Get down and nymph with midge pupa and emerger patterns as well as Baetis. As well as bead/eggs. As weather continues to cool off midges, rock wormsand leeches will become more consistent. Tight Lines”- Justin
The rest of November should still fish great. The rest of the winter can be good, just look ahead and pick good weather days and enjoy. We are here to show you how good “shoulder seasons” can be. Any questions, call the shop and we can help plan a trip. Tack it on to a couple days of skiing and you have a great weeknd trip.
